Sonoma Winery Prepares for Wildfires with Class A Fire-Rated Roofing Technology

Landmark Vineyards Protects their Sonoma Winery with

Class A Fire-Rated Roofs

Landmark Vineyards Sonoma Roofing 2018

Winery Roofing Experts

Wedge Roofing, an award-winning contractor serving wineries in both Napa and Sonoma, recently installed Class A Fire-Rated Roof Systems at Landmark Vineyards in Kenwood, CA.

Sonoma Valley Premiere Winery

Nestled at the base of the Mayacamas Mountain Range in the heart of Sonoma Valley wine country, Landmark Vineyards epitomizes the rustic grace and beauty of this premiere wine region, producing hand-crafted, award-winning chardonnay and pinot noir.

Wine County Fires

When the firestorm blew through the Valley of the Moon, Landmark Vineyard’s premiere tasting room, gorgeous guest suites, and newly renovated VIP tasting tower were in direct line of the wind-whipped raging fire.

“The smoke swirled around us,” said the winery’s groundskeeper. “In the swirling thick smoke, there were burning embers blowing through the air igniting nearby structures in flames.”

As with the uncertainty of wildfires, the wind shifted, and Landmark Vineyards was left unscathed by one of the deadliest California fires on record.

Following the devastating October 2017 Northbay wildfires, Landmark Vineyards hired GAF Master Elite Contractor Wedge Roofing to convert the wood shake roofs on their Sonoma County Winery to a non-combustible roofing system.

Wildfire Defensive Roofing

“Reports by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection show that non-combustible roofing materials are one of the most important factors for structure survival during a wildfire,” said Ralph Wedge, owner of Wedge Roofing. “Indeed, the selection of a Class-A Fire-Rated roofing system is an important safety decision for structures located within the Wildfire Urban Interface areas.”

Class A Fire-Rated Roofing

The GAF Timberline Ultra HD Reflector Shingle Roofs installed by Wedge Roofing offer the best defense from wildfires with a Class A Fire Rating. These shingles also compliment the rich architectural design of Landmark Winery, retaining the aesthetic appeal of the original shake roofs. Additionally, these Cool Roof reflective shingles reduce energy usage in compliance with California’s Title 24 energy standards.
