Gary Harvey Celebrates 30 Years at Wedge Roofing

On July 23, 2026, Wedge Roofing proudly celebrated Gary Harvey’s remarkable 30-year journey with the company, from residential and commercial sales to General Manager and, today, owner and CEO. His career reflects decades of leadership, innovation, and dedication to Wedge Roofing.

Born and raised in London, England, Gary relocated to the United States in the mid-1970s. He began his career in the roofing industry following his education and has worked in the roofing, waterproofing, and building envelope sector since 1980.

The only departure from his roofing career was a four-year tenure as Director of Manufacturing for a Boeing subsidiary in Seattle, where he pursued his secondary passion for aviation. This experience strengthened the leadership and operational skills he would later bring to Wedge Roofing.

Gary joined Wedge Roofing in 1996 after gaining leadership experience in manufacturing and working in both high-end residential and commercial roofing. Since then, he has helped expand the company’s services, introduce new roofing technologies, strengthen its operations, and guide Wedge Roofing into its next generation of ownership.

Three Decades of Growth and Leadership

Gary began his Wedge Roofing career in residential sales, serving Bay Area homeowners from 1996 through 1999. In 2000, he moved into commercial sales, working with complex roofing systems and the specialized needs of commercial property owners.

By 2006, Gary was promoted to General Manager. For nearly two decades, he oversaw the company’s daily operations, business development, customer service, employee training, and growth.

Expanding Wedge Roofing’s Capabilities

Under Gary’s leadership as General Manager, Wedge Roofing expanded its services, developed new areas of expertise, and strengthened its reputation as an award-winning roofing contractor.

In 2007, he established the company’s dedicated Repair and Maintenance Department, enhancing Wedge Roofing’s ability to provide specialized repairs, preventive maintenance, and long-term roof care.

In 2008–2009, Gary introduced spray polyurethane foam roofing to Wedge Roofing. The company went on to complete nationally recognized, award-winning residential and commercial spray foam roofing projects, establishing Wedge Roofing as a leader in this specialized roofing system.

Together, these initiatives broadened the company’s capabilities and created new ways to serve residential and commercial property owners throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

From General Manager to Owner and CEO

Gary became owner and CEO in 2023. The transition was a natural continuation of a career already deeply connected to the company’s employees, customers, reputation, and future.

Today, he leads an award-winning roofing company recognized for five decades of demonstrated roofing expertise, renowned customer service, and ethical business practices.

Wedge Roofing is the only San Francisco Bay Area roofing contractor to receive the BBB Torch Award for Ethics. The company has built its reputation through honesty, integrity, and a longstanding commitment to doing what is right for its customers.

Roofing Industry Leadership

Gary’s commitment to advancing the roofing industry extends beyond Wedge Roofing. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance, supporting professional education, certification, safety, and higher standards throughout the spray foam industry.

He has also helped position Wedge Roofing as an active contributor to the roofing profession through the company’s involvement with the Independent Roofing Contractors of California and the California Roofing Apprenticeship Program.

Through these leadership roles, Gary continues to support the education and professional development of the next generation of roofing professionals.
