Reroofing of Marin County’s ย St. Paulโs Episcopal Church
Wedge Roofing was honored to be entrusted with reroofing Marin Countyโs oldest Episcopal churchโSt. Paulโs Episcopal Church in San Rafael. With deep respect for the churchโs legacy, our team carefully removed the existing shingles from the steep-sloped areas and installed new Class A fire-resistant roof shingles to enhance safety and longevity. On the flat sections, we applied a highly insulated spray polyurethane foam roofing system, improving energy efficiency for both congregants and students who share the space.
ย ย ย Unlike standard commercial projects, work on a house of worship demands a quiet and respectful approach. To minimize disruption, we scheduled roofing activities around services and community events, often working during off-peak hours and weekends. We used quieter techniques and equipment to maintain a peaceful environment and took great care to ensure the worksite remained clean, safe, and respectful at all times.
ย ย Special care was also given to preserving the architectural integrity of the church. Roofing materials were selected to harmonize with the Carpenter Gothic design and the buildingโs historical aesthetic, ensuring that our modern upgrades did not detract from its timeless character.
ย ย Founded in 1868, St. Paulโs Episcopal Church is the oldest Episcopal congregation in Marin County. The original building, completed in 1869, was expanded in 1895 to include the signature Rose Window. In 1927, the church was relocated to its current site on Court Street in San Rafael, where it continues to serve the community as the cityโs oldest church building and the second oldest in the county.
ย ย At Wedge Roofing, we take pride in delivering award-winning craftsmanship while honoring the sanctity and history of the spaces we serve.
