Marin County, Sonoma County, San Francisco and Napa
Wedge Roofing is honored to support local non-profits that preserve Marin County’s rich cultural heritage. We recently installed a new spray foam roof for the I.D.E.S.I. Portuguese Hall in Novato, located at 901 Sweetser Avenue.
The I.D.E.S.I. Portuguese Hall, built in 1908, is a testament to the enduring traditions of the Portuguese community in California. Constructed by I.D.E.S.I. members, the hall was later expanded in the 1930s with a dance building. The I.D.E.S.I. organization continues a tradition that began over 300 years ago when Portuguese settlers migrated from their homeland to the Azores and eventually to California in the 1800s.
Founded to celebrate Portuguese culture and support its members’ well-being, I.D.E.S.I. and similar organizations across California have played a key role in helping immigrants integrate into American life. Today, the hall remains active, hosting celebrations and fundraisers year-round, including crab feeds, a November crafts fair, a steak-and-salmon dinner, and a car show.
