BUILT-UP-ROOFING
Commonly referred to as; "Tar & Gravel" or "Hot Tar". A roof system with a demonstrated track record of 75 -100 years, which still accounts for over half of the flat roofing systems installed in California. A tough, durable system with multiple redundant layers of waterproofing material, available in a variety of finishes.
CLAY TILE
Clay is considered an upgrade over concrete tile. A special underlayment is required. Clay can be offered in one-piece and two-piece styles.
COMPOSITION SHINGLES
Composition is far and away the most popular and widely-used residential roofing material. This system has a wide spectrum of life-expectancies from 25, 30, 40, 50-year or life-time guaranteed effective use. In addition, we offer many high-end 50-year composition shingle systems, and at the apex: elegant lifetime systems. 25-year shingles are used on most starter-homes and have little or no texture. 30, 40, and 50-year shingles have a unique dimensional or architectural look with good curb appeal. The lifetime design shingles are considered specialty shingles and can be tailored specially to suit the ambiance of your home.
CONCRETE TILE
This type is considered a "lifetime" roof and is typically used on upper-end homes. As their weight is an issue, a home must be engineered, or otherwise evaluated, to handle 1,000 pounds per 'square' (A square is a roofing term for a 100 square-foot area).
DECK COATINGS
Attractive, customizable, durable and trafficable fluid applied deck coatings. Available in GACO, Metacrylics and most other major coating manufacturers.
GREEN ROOFING
Wedge Roofing is a 'Build It Green' certified contractor, we offer Complete Green LEED approved, Title 24 compliant, green roofing systems. Including roof-top gardens to offset carbon footprint, installation of solar-hybrid roofing systems for energy savings and our use of recycled materials. Many of our roofing systems are considered energy-saving and green and can secure your home LEED points.
METAL ROOFING
There are two styles of metal roofing to choose from. Screwdown (with exposed fasteners) is used on most standard homes. These fasteners generally require normal maintenance every seven to ten years. Standing seam is a metal roof system which uses concealed fasteners, this is considered an upgrade and is the longer-lasting of the two.
(MODIFIED) FLAT ROOFING
Modified roofing is made by all shingle manufacturers. It can be installed by many methods including "hot mopped," or even "self-adhering" so no heat source is required. Modified roofing is used on most commercial applications as well as patio roofs and in the waterproofing of walk-on decks.
SINGLE-PLY ROOFING
Single-ply roofing is available in Carlisle, Duro-Last or other major manufacturers, which do not require a flame for installation or a kettle. These systems typically qualify for up to 20 year warranties.
SLATE ROOFING
Similar to concrete tile, slate is a higher-end, very heavy material. In order to install slate roofing, a house must be engineered to support over 1,000 pounds per square.
SPRAY POLYURETHANE FOAM
One of our most popular systems. Not only is this a durable and long-lasting system, it is also Green Home and Energy-savings compliant. Spray polyurethane foam, commonly referred to as 'SPF', is a spray-applied insulating foam that is sprayed-on in liquid form, but quickly expands many times its original size. High density roofing foam is resistant to foot traffic and "water within" moments. SPF has an extremely high insulating value of R-6.0 per inch. The excellent insulation efficiency of SPF can reduce heating and cooling usage dramatically. SPF insulates and eliminates thermal bridging (as it requires no fasteners or gaps in decking) while providing a roofing system that can be expected to outlast you and the house, as long as it is simply and cheaply re-coated with elastomeric every 10-15 years.
SYNTHETIC SLATE
This system is not as pricey as real slate and also not as heavy. No special bracing is required as most homes can handle the weight.
WOOD SHINGLES
Two styles of wood shingles are available. Wood shingles are the smaller of the styles (18") and installed over open lathe at a 5" exposure. Wood shakes are 24" installed using #30 felt at a 10" exposure. Most city codes require that any installed wood shingles be fire treated.
